Maryland’s COVID-19 problem is trending in the wrong direction.

The numbers are staggering and concerning from Maryland with a total of 22 cases of the coronavirus within the program. The numbers break down to include 15 players as well as seven members of the staff including head coach Mike Locksley.

The spike in cases will cause Maryland to cancel this Saturday’s game against Michigan State, the second-straight game that the Terrapins have cancelled. Last week’s game against Ohio State was cancelled due to the virus as well.

Next weekend’s game at No. 9 Indiana could also be in doubt. Maryland is 2-1 on the year.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Locksley is isolating at home. The ESPN report also said that the program has had a positivity rate of 2.8 percent.

As has been the case nationally, COVID-19 numbers are spiking in the state of Maryland.

Last week, four SEC games were cancelled in accordance to testing protocols.
