Maryland finished off its best season in a while during 2022, reaching 8 wins for the first time since the 2010 season under Ralph Friedgen. Now, the Terrapins are sending a large group of prospects to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

On Saturday, the program announced 7 players have accepted invites to the combine. That group includes defensive backs Jakorian Bennett and Deonte Banks, wide receivers Jacob Copeland, Dontay Demus Jr., and Rakim Jarrett, left tackle Jaelyn Duncan and kicker Chad Ryland.

Per Maryland’s release, that is the most terrapins invited to a single combine in over 35 years (1987). The Terrapins previously sent 6 players to the combine in 2009.

When the 2023 NFL Draft rolls around, Maryland will look to set a program record for most players selected in the 7-round format of the NFL Draft. The current record for Maryland players selected in a single draft is 5, accomplished in 2004 and 2009.

It will be interesting to see how these players improve their draft stock during the combine and other pre-draft workouts. The combine will be held from March 2-5 while the NFL Draft will take place April 27-29.
