Maryland WR D.J. Moore will enter NFL draft

The B1G’s leading receiver from 2017 has decided to skip his senior season and will declare for the NFL draft.

Maryland wide receiver D.J. Moore released a statement on Tuesday, thanking the University of Maryland, coaches, teammates and fans for his experience in College Park. However, Moore decided that it was best to enter the 2018 NFL Draft and bypass his senior season with the Terrapins.

He made the statement public via Twitter.

“I had had an incredible three years playing for the Terps and I will truly miss playing in front of our fans,” Moore wrote. “I can’t thank my teammates and coaches enough for always being there for me and supporting me.”

Moore was the B1G’s only 1,000-yard receiver this season and one of just 24 players across college football to hit that mark. He finished the year with 1,033 yards and eight touchdowns.

None of Maryland’s receivers were even close to Moore’s totals in 2017. Taivon Jacobs was the second-leading receiver this season, going for 553 yards and five touchdowns.

Moore leaves Maryland with 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns on 146 catches in his career.
