Rumors are continuing to swirl around Maryland and head coach D.J. Durkin, but it appears a decision has not yet been reached on his future following a Board of Regents meeting Friday.

It was reported earlier in the week that the board would be holding a special meeting Friday to discuss the investigation into the football program and the impending lawsuit against Maryland. On Friday evening, the University System of Maryland announced that the board of regents would take control of the investigations surrounding Durkin and the football program.

The release also indicated that the board has requested the Office of the Attorney General to represent the school “on any and all legal claims related to Mr. McNair’s death.”

Board chair James Brady said the  main goal is to protect the health and safety of all students:

“Our goal is to ensure that all system universities, including UMCP, are actively working to protect the health and safety of every student and to foster a supportive culture in which everyone can flourish.”

For now, it looks like no decision has been made concerning Durkin and his future at Maryland. You can read the entire release here.
