Maryland’s mishap turned FS1 broadcaster Eric Collins into every Joe Fan who sits in their living room and screams when their football team makes a terrible mistake.

During Saturday’s Big Ten battle between the Terrapins and USC in College Park, Maryland quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. was trying to manage the clock with 10 seconds left in the 1st half and the Terps trailing 21-7. He awaited the snap at the Trojans’ 27-yard line as Maryland tried to position itself for a score of some kind to get a little closer at halftime.

Then all hell broke loose, in the game and in the broadcast booth.

The snap was ridiculously high, and Edwards couldn’t handle it. USC recovered the ball, ending any hope of Maryland getting a late 1st-half score as the teams would go to the locker room with the Trojans ahead by that same 21-7 score. Collins was already surprised before the play was run that Maryland was not spiking the ball to stop the clock, and he wasn’t shy in telling the national TV audience.

Then when the snap went awry, Collins screamed: “Oh no, disaster! What a bad idea!”

Aside from frustrated Maryland fans watching on TV, Collins likely endeared himself to every football fan who screams something like what Collins did at that moment.

Meanwhile, Maryland did finally get within 21-14 in the 3rd quarter, so all was not lost yet for the Terrapins on this day.
