Maryland’s Mike Locksley critical of B1G for back-to-back Friday night conference games

Maryland is getting set for another Friday night game — and coach Mike Locksley doesn’t sound too happy about it.
The Terps played Illinois on Friday, Sept. 17. It was a 9 p.m. kickoff and Maryland narrowly escaped an upset in Champaign, defeating the Illini 20-17.
Now, undefeated Maryland is getting ready to face another undefeated team: No. 5 Iowa. This game is also drawing the Friday night treatment, although kickoff time is 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.
Locksley isn’t thrilled about more Friday Night Lights, and he made it clear Tuesday in his media availability.
Maryland will host No. 5 Iowa for its second Friday night Big Ten matchup of the season.
Mike Locksley: “I guess we’re still the new kids on the block with having to play Friday night games … at some point maybe we’ll get full membership to where we may not have to do this.”

UMD joined the B1G in 2014 and, along with Rutgers, are the newest league members and quite literally the “new kids on the block.” It’s worth wondering if FOX and the B1G expected both teams to be 4-0 when the game was scheduled.
FS1 viewers should be in for a treat, though, as the B1G’s top passer faces the top scoring defense.
