Rivalry Week is full of matchups involving teams that don’t like each other. In fact, the word “hate” could be thrown around pretty regularly on the final weekend of the college football season.
That statement proved to be true in Saturday’s game between UNLV and Nevada, although the game ended in discouraging and disappointing fashion. Rather than allowing a great game be decided on the field, it was marred by what happened after a game-winning touchdown.
UNLV scored a touchdown in overtime against Nevada, finishing the year with a 33-30 victory over a rival. Kenyon Oblad his Steve Jenkins on a 19-yard touchdown pass for the win. That was a great way to end the game.
After the catch though, the two teams got into a massive altercation, with both teams storming the field and fighting in one of the end zone’s. The brawl lasted for at least a minute before players started to go there separate ways.
Below is the video of the brawl. Both athletic directors from Nevada and UNLV are investigating the situation.
Best video I’ve seen of the fight. Appears Nevada’s Austin Arnold threw the first punch (a punch from behind on UNLV’s quarterback). Kenyon Obland might have said something to spark it, but that punch led to the brawl.
