Matt Campbell on Saturday gained his first commitment as Penn State‘s head coach, picking up a verbal pledge from former Iowa State signee Bryson Williams.
On Sunday, another former Cyclone signee released from his NLI after Campbell’s departure made his decision to join Campbell in Happy Valley.
Kase Evans, a quarterback in the 2026 class, has verballed to Penn State. He revealed the news to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
Evans, a Texas native, was originally committed to Oklahoma State, committing to the Cowboys in June. He decommited two days after the firing of Mike Gundy in September.
Late in September, Campbell and Iowa State extended an offer to Evans, leading to his commitment in October and ultimately signing his NLI in December during the Early Signing Period. After Campbell left Ames to take the vacant job at Penn State, Evans was released from his NLI, eventually pledging to the Nittany Lions.
Penn State now has six players committed out of the high school class of 2026. Two players have signed; both were recruited to the program by James Franklin.
While there may not be many high school recruits signed to the program, there’s likely to be a wave of players joining from the transfer portal after it opens on January 2.
