Matt Haarms’ decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal isn’t just to explore his options, the 7-foot-3 center will be leaving Purdue.

Though players have the option to return to their school after entering the transfer portal, Haarms sent out a farewell message to Purdue from his Instagram, signifying he has no plans to return to West Lafayette. Haarms has played for the Boilermakers the last three seasons and has one year of eligibility remaining.

“After much consideration I have made the decision to transfer from Purdue for my final year of college eligibility,” Haarms wrote on Instagram. “I will forever have nothing but love for the school and the program, but I believe this is the best decision for my personal journey. I want to thank my teammates and coaches for making this time truly special. To the fans, thank you for your unwavering support every single year and I hope that you can respect my decision.”

This past season, Haarms averaged 8.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 0.9 assists per game. He also totaled 210 career blocks, which ranks fourth in Purdue’s history.

Shortly after his decision to hit the NCAA transfer portal, more than two dozen college teams reached out to Haarms. He’ll likely be able to carve out some serious playing time at just about anywhere in the country.
