Matt Painter’s Purdue squad escaped Lincoln unscathed Saturday night. However, it was far from a comfortable trip.
Nebraska and Purdue wound up heading to overtime with the Boilermakers never able to pull away on the road. When it was all said and done, Purdue narrowly avoided the loss with a 65-62 final score.
After the game, Painter was asked what sets this Nebraska team apart from the 2021-22 team. According to Painter, it’s the way this group of Huskers is able to defend.

Purdue was far from efficient in the win, shooting 39.7% from the floor and 7-for-29 (24.1%) from 3-point range. The Boilermakers also committed 12 turnovers in the game.
We’ll see how Nebraska looks the rest of the season and whether or not the Huskers are able to come up with an upset or two in the B1G.
