Matt Painter knows that his Purdue team last season could have done much better. The Boilermakers were eliminated in the Sweet 16 by St. Peter’s in the NCAA Tournament.
Painter thinks that Purdue should have won the B1G, the B1G tournament, and could have even gone to a Final Four.
Purdue finished third in the B1G in 2021. The Boilermakers even made it to the final round of the B1G Tournament, but lost to Iowa. Painter blames himself for everything that the team wasn’t able to accomplish.
“I thought we should have won our league,” said Painter. “I thought we should have won our tournament. I thought we should have gotten to a Final Four, and we didn’t.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the Purdue offense is run now that Jaden Ivey is with the Detroit Pistons. Ivey was the team’s leading scorer, averaging 17.3 points per game last season.
Purdue’s 2022-2023 season starts on Nov. 8 against Milwaukee.
