Matt Rhule isn’t piling on his Nebraska predecessor. He had a lot to say in response to Scott Frost’s comments, but did not take shots at the former Husker head coach, a Nebraska playing great.

Rhule was certainly prepared to be asked at Big Ten Media Days about Scott Frost’s recent comments. Frost caused a stir when he said “don’t take the wrong job” was what he learned from his Nebraska coaching experience.

“I’ve always been very empathetic of what he went through because this was his home,” Rhule said when asked to respond to Frost. “Like, if you guys fire me tomorrow, I’m just gonna go back to Cape May (New Jersey) and sit on the beach and go back to where I’m from.”

Frost’s comments about making the wrong decision upset many in the Nebraska community. Rhule acknowledged that the program was not in great shape when he arrived in Lincoln. The third-year head coach, though, feels like that’s changing with the strides the Huskers are making on the field (reaching a bowl game) and off the field (facility improvements, compensation infrastructure).

“This wasn’t a good job,” Rhule said. “It was not a good job, but we’ve made it a good job, and we’re about to make it a great job. This will be one of the best jobs in the country.”

Rhule gave a 4-minute answer when asked about Frost’s comments. More from the head Husker can be heard in the clips below from Kevin Sjuts of 10/11 News.
