Matt Rhule spoke to the media on Saturday and addressed a couple of things off the bat. A player who was with team during the offseason is no longer on the roster.
Zavier Betts is a name that Nebraska fans have come to know after spending 2022 away from the team. It appears that Betts has left the program for a second time. Rhule confirmed the news at the presser.
Betts was a former 4-star WR from the 2020 class. The 247Sports Composite ranked him as the No. 20 WR and No. 1 player from Nebraska. The in-state wideout hails from Bellevue, Nebraska.
Zavier Betts, the highly regarded sophomore wide receiver who returned to Nebraska this year after one season away, is no longer with the team, coach Matt Rhule said Saturday after the Huskers completed the second week of preseason camp.

It has been a rough couple of days for Nebraska’s receiving depth. Marcus Washington just returned from a hand injury and suffered another injury. Malachi Coleman was also not able to practice on Tuesday.
Hopefully for Rhule’s sake, there will be less injuries to the receiving corps in Lincoln. The 2023 season for Nebraska starts on Aug. 31 against Minnesota.
Kickoff will be at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
