Matt Rhule is a quiet type. He tries to keep his boots on the ground and his eyes off laptops and message boards.
The 1st-year Nebraksa coach said that he isn’t a fan of social media and tries to avoid it at all costs. Then again, Rhule has been a college coach for years now, meaning he at least is in the know of how platforms like Twitter and Instagram work.
Matt Rhule says he doesn't read social media, but he communicates with players on it.
As for those emoji messages?
Rhule: "It's taken on a life of its own."

Rhule stated that while he tries to stay off the Twitterverse or “take one for the gram” he’ll gladly take photos and mention recruits if it benefits the program’s future. As for emojis, he’s not a fan of the cartoony pictures that usually are connected with tweets and photos.
Rhule on his use of social media (and the emojis in particular): "If recruits are asking me to do it, I’ll do it. I want to show off Lincoln. This is a cool town."

The Huskers have been on a roll in terms of recruiting during Rhule’s first season. Currently, Nebraska has landed 21 commits via letters of intent, and 6 transfers following the start of the Early Signing Period. The Huskers focused heavily on their defensive front, landing 8 defensive linemen, including 4-star defender Riley Van Poppell and 4-star Edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen.
According to the current 247Sports team rankings, Nebraska currently owns the No. 29 recruiting class for the 2023 cycle.
