Matt Rhule shares injury update on Nebraska’s QBs ahead of Michigan game

Matt Rhule and Nebraska are gearing up for a tough matchup in Week 5 against Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan program. Making matters tougher for the Cornhuskers, the quarterback situation is a bit murky entering the game.
Jeff Sims — Nebraska’s starter to begin the season — was injured in the loss to Colorado. He was active but did not start in Week 4 after not being 100%.
In Sims’ absence, Heinrich Haarberg has handled the starting duties, but he left the win over Louisiana Tech late in the game. Chubba Purdy finished the game in place of Haarberg.
During his Thursday press conference, Rhule announced both players have practiced throughout the week. He admitted Sims is still probably not quite 100% but has looked good with his movement.
“Both guys have practiced all week. I wouldn’t say Jeff is 100%. He looks good in terms of moving, sliding in the pocket,” said Rhule. “Heinrich has looked good, how much can he completely open up and all those things? I don’t think we’ll know until game time, but there have been no restrictions on him. They’re both trying to get ready, we’ll practice tomorrow, and we’ll be ready to use either one of them or both of them as needed.”
We’ll see who gets the eventual starting nod at game time, but either player will have his hands full against Michigan.
