Matthew Mayer provides bizarre reason for why he has missed Illini practice since Sunday

What is going on over in Champaign?
At the same press conference where is was revealed that Jayden Epps collapsed during practice Tuesday night, Matthew Mayer revealed that he has missed practice with the Illini since Sunday with “caffeine poisoning” after drinking 5 Monster energy drinks while playing video games, following Illinois’ loss to Ohio State.
Thankfully, both Mayer and Epps seem to be okay now, but this is a fairly alarming set of updates for a team entering March.

The Illini, despite their loss to Ohio State Sunday, are in favorable shape (resume wise) heading into the B1G tournament. They sit at 19-10 on the season with a game scheduled against Michigan for Thursday.
