We all know about the Heisman Trophy. That gets all the love.

However, there are other major awards given out each season in college football. One is the Maxwell Award. It acts similarly to the Heisman Trophy, but it is different, and it is given to the best all-around player in college football.

You would have to go back seven years to find the last defensive player to win the award (Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o), where as for the Heisman, you have to go back to 1997 when Michigan DB Charles Woodson won the award.
