Even though running back Mekhi Sargent wasn’t drafted, he’s still making quite the case to make the Tennessee Titans roster.

Sargent’s had an outstanding preseason and it has only gotten better each week. In Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Bears, he had a rushing touchdown from 1 yard out to break the ice.

Sargent also put up some more numbers after that touchdown and finished with 17 carries for 51 yards, plus 1 catch for 6 yards.

In his first preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons, he finished with 16 carries for 58 yards. He ended up improving on those numbers in his second preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he finished with 78 yards on 16 carries, plus a short receiving touchdown.

As of right now, Sargent’s biggest competition for the 53-man roster is likely Darrynton Evans (a 3rd-round pick of the Titans in the 2020 Draft) and Brian Hill, who was a reserve running back with the Atlanta Falcons from 2017-2020.

Derrick Henry will get the boatload of the carries, but the backup job to Henry is still very much up in the air. If Sargent makes the roster, he could be in line to get the No. 2 slot.
