Heading into the season, Michigan State received lofty expectations after an impressive 2021 campaign. Mel Tucker earned a 10-year $95 million extension after an 11-2 record in his second year at the helm of the program.

Fast forward to the 2022 season where Tucker and the Spartans are on a 3-game losing streak after Week 5. Michigan State has now lost to Washington, Minnesota and Maryland despite ranking as high as No. 11.

The Spartans now must find a way to revive their season just to fight for bowl eligibility, especially with No. 3 Ohio State coming up to East Lansing this week.

“You sit around waiting for the easy bus to come around, the easy bus isn’t coming,” Tucker said Monday.

Tucker must find answers where there seems to be none. He knows that, and we will see this week if there is any fight left in his squad. Like he said, it won’t be easy — nothing is in the loaded B1G East. However, that is what comes with being a coach of a high-profile program in a high-profile conference.
