Mel Tucker confirms offensive lineman, two freshmen opt out of 2020 season

Michigan State is losing some depth prior to its Week 5 matchup with Maryland.
Spartans coach Mel Tucker announced Tuesday afternoon that offensive lineman Mustafa Khaleefah and two freshmen have opted out of the rest of the season due to COVID-19.
Khaleefah was depth for the Michigan State offensive line. He appeared in five games last season but had not yet played in 2020 under Tucker.
The freshmen who opted out were later identified by a team spokesman as defensive linemen Simeon Barrow and Jasiyah Robinson. Neither has played in a game this season.

Michigan State is 1-3 this season in Tucker’s first year. Aside from a stunning victory at Michigan, it’s been a disappointing campaign for the Spartans.
They turned it over seven times in an 11-point loss to Rutgers in Week 1 and then have only scored seven combined points in their last two losses to Iowa and Indiana.
Next up for Michigan State is a road game at Maryland.
