Mel Tucker took time Monday to address and apologize for Michigan State’s actions following the rivalry game vs. Michigan.
After the game, a group of Spartans engaged in an ugly incident involving 2 Wolverine players. That fight is being investigated by authorities and 4 members of the Michigan State program are currently suspended.
To open his press conference, Tucker apologized to both programs, the B1G and the fans for the actions and said the team will fully cooperate with the investigation.
“The incidents involving a small group of our players do not represent our culture,” said Tucker. “I made a decision to suspend players based on video evidence that was provided to me and (AD Alan Haller) yesterday. The suspensions will allow the players ot receive academic support and medical services but they will not be able to attend any team activities, including meeetings, practices, weight training or games.
“Our entire team will be cooperating with law enforcement and the B1G to further evaluate the events in Ann Arbor. These suspensions will remain in place until the investigation is completed when we have a full report, I will address further actions if needed.
“We’re not here to make any excuses for the behaviors on Saturday. They are unacceptable. It also important to say we honor the traditions of the B1G, including the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry game. We have a responsibility to uphold the values of this great university.”
