Mel Tucker knows that Michigan State is just one win away from becoming bowl eligible, but there’s something more important up for grabs on Saturday. The Land-Grant Trophy will once again be played for against Penn State.

The Spartans took home the trophy last season with a 30-27 victory over the Nittany Lions in East Lansing. The series is much closer with Michigan State leading 18-17. Tucker is making sure that Michigan State is just focusing on the next game.

“We have a lot to play for,” said Tucker. “And obviously, it’s the next game & the last regular-season game and guaranteed opportunity for us. It’s huge.”

The Spartans lost to Indiana 39-31 in double overtime at home after earning wins over No. 16 Illinois and Rutgers. At 5-6, everything is going to be on the line this Saturday.

Tucker will be looking to get his team to back-to-back bowl games for the first time in his Michigan State tenure. Last season the team finished with an 11-2 record and a win in the Peach Bowl over Pitt.

Kickoff from Beaver Stadium will be at 4 p.m. ET on FS1.
