Mel Tucker spoke about the importance of having a well-prepared team ahead of the latest matchup against Washington.
Michigan State will have to adjust to a different time zone for the Washington game. This will require special preparation for the entire team to ensure that the Spartans are adjusted to the time difference.
Tucker: "We're gonna find out more about our team on Saturday."

Tucker continues: "If you get beyond that, it becomes a distraction." Says its like looking at a scoreboard in a game and letting it dictate "how you play. Be focused on the journey, the process, and then you just add it up at the end and see where it takes you."

Tucker: "We're building the story of this year's team right now. Last year's team is gone, that's a different team. This is a new team, this is a new season. So we're focused on what we have to do on a day to day basis to prepare to play good football."

Tucker says MSU's sports science team and trainers put in place some protocols this week for the trip to Washington. "We're gonna make sure those things get done and make sure we're in the best position to compete at a high level." Doesn't want to go into details, though.

Tucker understood what this game will mean for his team:
“We’re gonna find out more about our team on Saturday,” Tucker said.
This week’s game was compared to Michigan State’s road game against Miami in 2021. Tucker was not worried about the comparisons between the 2 games and wanted to focus on this season:
“We’re building the story of this year’s team right now. Last year’s team is gone, that’s a different team. This is a new team, this is a new season. So we’re focused on what we have to do on a day to day basis to prepare to play good football.”
Tucker went on to mention that the school’s sports science team will help the team get ready for this key road trip. He did not provide specific details about the protocols that will be put in place for Michigan State.
Michigan State advanced to a 2-0 record with a 52-0 win over Akron on Saturday. Kickoff for Week 3 will take place at 7:30 p.m. ET.
