Mel Tucker knows how important it is for Michigan State to get back on track this season. He was one of the coaches who spoke at B1G Media Days on Wednesday.

Michigan State is coming off of a 5-7 season in 2022. Tucker mentioned how hungry, focused, and determined the Spartans are heading into preseason camp.

“We have a hungry, determined and very, very focused football team heading into preseason camp.”

There will definitely be a lot of determination to win the starting QB job in East Lansing. With Payton Thorne now at Auburn, the job is expected to be between Noah Kim and Katin Houser.

The 2022 season was a learning experience for Tucker. This came after finishing with an 11-2 record in 2021. The Spartans capped off that impressive season with a win over Pitt in the Peach Bowl.

Much like Michigan State fans, Tucker is ready to turn over a new leaf and focus on the upcoming season.

The Spartans’ season opener will be against Central Michigan on Sept. 1. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. E.T. on FS1.
