Mel Tucker and Michigan State opened the season with a 35-13 win over Western Michigan. However, the Spartans didn’t leave the game without some injuries.

Both S Xavier Henderson and LB Darius Snow dealt with injuries before the game was over. Henderson was seen in a boot on the sidelines, and Snow left the game early.

The defensive pairing have appeared in a combined 66 games for Tucker. The Michigan State HC didn’t reveal anything about what the injuries were, but stated that he’ll know more about them on Monday per Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News.

With the loss of Henderson and Snow for now, players know it’s there job to be the next man up. Redshirt sophomore LB Cal Haladay know this, and how important the depth of Michigan State is going to be in the long run per Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.

“We’re gonna have to count on them as the games go on,” said Haladay.

Hopefully the injuries to Henderson and Snow won’t be too long term, as those 2 are very crucial to Michigan State’s success on defense.
