Mel Tucker had a lot of compliments when talking about the recent addition of Bai Jobe, a highly ranked 4-star Edge, to the Michigan State 2023 recruiting class. Jobe drew a lot of attention from the Spartans’ head coach with his overall quickness and size.

“Quickest first step, I believe, in the country,” Tucker said per Matt Charboneau.

Jobe is 6-foot-4 with a large wingspan weighing between 215 and 230 pounds while he played at Community Christian School out of Oklahoma. His overall athleticism allows him to be inside and outside of traditional Edge positions.

“His potential is through the roof,” Tucker said per Chris Solari with the Detroit Free Press.

Jobe also had offers from Alabama, Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Baylor but coach Tucker’s defensive resume ended up being the deciding factor in this recruiting battle. Jobe is currently ranked as the No. 82 overall player in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He is the highest-rated player committed to the Spartan’s 2023 class, which now includes 7 4-star recruits, and currently is ranked 3rd among other B1G schools per 247Sports.

Jobe could be an immediate impact performer when he arrives on campus as one of the nation’s best Edges in the 2023 class.
