NASCAR this weekend is at the Michigan International Speedway for Sunday’s Firekeepers Casino 400. That said, the weather has had other plans as the race was delayed by rain before eventually getting underway.
That didn’t do much to dampen the spirits of Mel Tucker and Tom Izzo, who were on hand to give the pre-race command to the drivers. Of course, the Michigan State head football coach and his men’s basketball counterpart threw in a “Go Green” along with the traditional “Drivers, start your engines” command.

Both Tucker and Izzo will hope that their respective teams can race to the top of the B1G, and their respective sports, in the upcoming season. The football team, 11-2 (7-2 B1G) in 2021, is in search of a first College Football Playoff appearance since 2015. Meanwhile, the men’s basketball program was 23-13 (11-9 B1G) in the 2021-22 campaign, falling in the conference semifinals before advancing to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.
