Urban Meyer disagrees with Torrance Gibson’s year-long suspension

Apparently the decision to suspend Torrance Gibson for the 2016 season was not made by Urban Meyer.
The Ohio State coach addressed the situation during his pre-Bowling Green press conference on Monday. Surprisingly, he said that he didn’t agree with Gibson’s suspension:
Meyer said he "disagrees" with decision to suspend Torrance Gibson. Said it was not an athletic department decision.

Gibson was technically suspended for a violation of “Ohio State’s student code of conduct,” which can mean just about anything. It isn’t clear what exactly led to the fall semester suspension, but it obviously wasn’t for something football-related.
There was talk that Gibson, a former dual-threat quarterback, could work his way into the receiver rotation as a redshirt freshman. It’s unclear what his future at Columbus holds.
Whatever the case, it’s rare to see a coach voice opposition to a major decision like that. Without speculating, it doesn’t sound like this situation is going away anytime soon.
