Rutgers lands graduate transfer RB from Miami (FL)

After a weekend that saw two Rutgers quarterbacks announce new destinations, the Scarlet Knights add to their 2017 offense on Monday.
According to NJ.com, Miami (FL) running back Gus Edwards will enroll at Rutgers as a graduate transfer. That’ll make him eligible to play immediately in 2017, which will be his final season.
The Staten Island native was blocked from transferring to ACC schools like Pitt and Syracuse, and ultimately picked Rutgers to be closer to home.

Rutgers will add an experienced tailback to its backfield. In three seasons as a backup, Edwards racked up 977 yards and 12 touchdowns in 35 career games at Miami (FL). He was the team’s third-leading rusher in 2016.
The 6-1, 230-pound running back will give the Knights a change-of-pace option to complement leading returning rusher Robert Martin and hybrid Janarion Grant.
