Penn State’s head basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry is highly optimistic heading into his second season with the Nittany Lions.
The Nittany Lions will have quite the team this upcoming season. With a roster of veteran Nittany Lions and some fresh talent, the 2022-23 season is almost underway and Shrewsberry could not be more excited.
Shrewsberry named the player he believes is Penn State’s top talent after a few weeks of practice: Veteran guard Jalen Pickett.
Pickett has been able to put up some solid numbers following 3 strong years at Siena followed by last season at Penn State. A total of 1,552 career points, 598 career assists and 506 career rebounds. Last season alone, he averaged 13.4 PPG, 4.4 APG, and 4.3 RPG.
Micah Shrewsberry also tells me that Jalen Pickett has clearly been Penn State's best player.

Another huge resource on the squad could be freshman center Kebba Njie, who has the potential to be the starting center when the season begins, according to Shrewsberry.
Njie, a 6-foot-10 standout from Dayton, Oh, was a 4-star recruit out of high school and could be a fixture soon on the lineup as top freshman.
Penn State will tipoff its season against Winthrop on Nov. 7
