Purdue football is bullying Ball State in Week 1. As they should be. The Boilermakers lead the Cardinals 31-0 with just over 5 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter.

The latest touchdown for Purdue was notable not necessarily for its excellent execution (though it was a great route and throw), but for its celebration. Michael Jackson III, who transferred in from Georgia, hit an appropriate celebration after scoring, paying homage to his name and the King of Pop himself.

Check it out:

With the above touchdown reception, Jackson exceeded his receiving total for the entire 2024 season. He totaled just 1 catch for 10 yards at Georgia following 3 seasons at USC.

It hasn’t just been that reception for Jackson, either. He’s had a nice day for Purdue’s offense, sitting 2nd on the team with 6 receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown. His 6 receptions is the most on the day for any receiver, either team.

It’s only Ball State, but quarterback Ryan Browne has been very solid as well. The 3rd-year QB has thrown for 311 yards and a pair of touchdowns, nearing 70% accuracy on the day. We’ll have to see how he fares against the Big Ten, but this has been an excellent start to the year for the Boilermakers.
