Last Sunday, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Micheal Thomas played over three-quarters of the offensive snaps. With only having played in three games this season, the former Ohio State Buckeye has been working his way back into playing form.

This Sunday, Thomas’ second reception – a 9-yard pass from Saints quarterback Taysom Hill, was Thomas’ 482nd of his career, surpassing Jarvis Landry’s mark of 481 for the most catches by a player in his first five seasons.

The Week 11 game between the Saints and the Atlanta Falcons was just Thomas’ fourth game in the 2020 season, after being sidelined with injuries from Week 2 through Week 9.

Thomas finished the 2019 season with 149 catches – an NFL record, with 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns. He was awarded the AP Offensive Player of the Year for his performance over the 2019 season, making him the first wide receiver to earn the award since San Francisco’s Jerry Rice in 1983.

Thomas has been a remarkable performer in the NFL, and this record speaks volumes. Considering Thomas is a little over halfway through the season and has missed a large chunk of time, that shows how impressive Thomas’ new record is.
