Last week, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said that he and coach Jim Harbaugh would sit down after the season to discuss Habaugh’s future with the program, to discuss any extension of his contract and the direction of the Michigan program.

That meeting is on Thursday, according to The Detroit News.

When Manuel commented last week on the upcoming meeting, he wanted to make sure to be clear that he and Harbaugh would talk before he commented further on any contract matters.

“How rumors get started about things before Jim and I sit down and have a conversation, I’m not going to get into,” Manuel said. “That’s not for me to try to track down, but that’s where that is, and that’s where we’ll be at the end of the season.”

While Harbaugh’s contract isn’t up until the end of the 2021 season, reports had surfaced early last week that Manuel had offered a contract extension to Harbaugh.

Manuel and Harbaugh were in agreement that the end of the season would have been after Michigan’s game with Iowa on Dec. 19, and that would be when they would sit down, and talk. With the cancelation of the game with Hawkeyes due to COVID-19 issues, the season is now over, clearing the way for the conversation.

Now all that is left to do is wait to see what they talked about – stay tuned.
