Michigan AD Warde Manuel releases statement revealing why UM received reprimand from B1G

In wake of the Michigan-Michigan State tunnel incident in October, the Big Ten has finally moved forward with its punishments for the 2 programs.
As a result, MSU was fined $100,000 while Michigan was reprimanded, but not for the tunnel incident.
According to Wolverine Athletic Director Warde Manuel in his statement, “the conference office’s reprimand of U-M was in response to a fan making physical contact with the MSU coach.” He also said that the program has begun implementing changes to further ensure a safer game day environment.
When the school was reprimanded, many seemed to think that it stemmed from the 2 Michigan player’s involvement in the incident, but that was not the case.
