Saturday proved to be a big day for Michigan’s future.

That is, it proved to be a big day for Michigan’s 2019 class.

On the weekend of their annual barbecue event for recruits, the Wolverines added two elite 2019 recruits. The first was four-star offensive tackle Nolan Rumler, who is the No. 5 recruit in Ohio in the 2019 class.

Michigan’s second pledge of the day was an even higher-rated 2019 recruit.

Stephen Herron Jr., who is ranked as the No. 34 player overall in the 2019 class, announced his verbal pledge to Michigan:

The Louisville (Ky.) native is the top-rated recruit from the state of Kentucky as well as the No. 4 weak-side defensive end in the 2019 class, according to the 247sports composite.

His recruitment is young, but Herron already has plenty of big-time offers. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas and several others are already on the table.

It’s early, but the 6-3 1/2, 235-pound pass-rushing defensive end gave the Wolverines their third 2019 pledge, all of which are rated four stars.
