Michigan is adding some depth and experience to its defensive line.

Friday, the Wolverines received a pledge from former Oregon State defensive tackle Jordan Whittley, a graduate transfer who will be immediately eligible for Michigan this season. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

“Bottom boy surviving, hard time living, I’ma make sure you don’t forget it,” Whittley wrote on Twitter. “100% committed #GOBLUE.”

Whittley began his career in 2017 at Laney College in Oakland, California, spending two seasons with the program. In his second year at Laney, Whittley piled up 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks while the team finished with an 11-2 record and earned a junior college championship.

After his time at Laney, Whittley transferred to Oregon State and spent two years with the Beavers. He did not play during the 2020 season, but in 2019 he was credited with 13 tackles, including 3 for loss, in 9 games.

Whittley will join a Michigan team that finished just 2-4 a season ago.
