Michigan’s baseball team is the lone B1G team standing in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Super Regional after posting a 17-6 win over Creighton on Monday night. That, alone, is enough to have Wolverine fans celebrating.

But advancing to the Super Regional also marked a major accomplishment for the athletic department. According to Drew Hallett of TheWolverine.com, Michigan is one of just two schools to have its football team play in a New Year’s Six bowl game, reach the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and see its baseball team reach the Super Regional.

The only other school to accomplish that task was LSU.

Michigan’s football team completed the regular season with a 10-2 record and played Florida in the Peach Bowl. With several key players out for the game, the Gators defeated the Wolverines 41-15.

The basketball team was one of the top-ranked squads all throughout the season and competed for a B1G regular season and B1G Tournament title, falling just short of claiming both. The Wolverines reached the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament with wins over Montana and Florida before falling to Texas Tech.

The Wolverines finished the season 30-7.

Michigan’s baseball team is 44-19 on the year and won the Corvallis Regional on Monday. The Wolverines went 3-1, going 2-1 against Creighton and 1-0 against Cincinnati.

Now, the Wolverines will play UCLA in the Super Regional.
