Michigan beats out Nebraska for 4-star pass rusher in class of 2024

Michigan made a major addition to its 2024 recruiting class on Thursday.

The Wolverines picked up a commitment from 4-star EDGE rusher Jacob Smith out of Connecticut. He chose Michigan over programs like Nebraska, Wisconsin, Texas A&M and USC, amongst others.

Smith is the twin brother of current Michigan commit Jerod Smith, who committed the Wolverines back in April of this year.

Smith an elite pass rushing prospect. He’s the No. 211 overall player and the No. 17 EDGE in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 4 player from Connecticut.

He attends Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Connecticut. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds.

Smith took an official visit to Ann Arbor last month. He also visited Nebraska prior to making his decision.

Michigan is now up to 26 commitments in the class of 2024, including 8 who are classified as defensive linemen. The group is ranked No. 4 in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
