Michigan beats out Ohio State, others to land elite edge rusher Carter Meadows

One of the top edge rushers in the country has committed to play college football in Ann Arbor.
Carter Meadows has joined Michigan‘s 2026 recruiting class. He announced his commitment to Sherrone Moore’s program on Sunday.
Out of Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., Meadows is listed as measuring 6-6, 235 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Meadows is rated 4-stars, the No. 9 edge rusher, No. 1 player in DC and No. 72 recruit overall in the Class of 2026. On3 rates Meadows a 5-star recruit.
As one of the top players out of the “DMV” talent hotbed, Meadows was a highly sought-after prospect. During his recruitment, he collected scholarship offers from 29 programs, including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
To narrow things down, Meadows took visits to Michigan, South Carolina, Ohio State and Penn State. On Sunday, he decided he was ready to verbally pledge.
