One of the top prospects in the state of Ohio is embracing the role as the villain. Michigan went into enemy territory on Wednesday to land a standout defensive back.
Monsanna Torbert Jr. is the newest Michigan pledge. He announced his plans to play for U-M on Wednesday.
Out of Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton High School, Torbert is listed as measuring 6-feet and 175 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Torbert is rated 4-stars, the No. 5 recruit in the state of Ohio, No. 13 cornerback and No. 106 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.
As one of the top prospects in Ohio, Torbert had notable interest. His list of 31 scholarship offers included Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas.
For Wednesday’s big decision, Torbert narrowed things down to Michigan, Ohio State and Indiana. Leaving the Buckeye State to play for the Wolverines, Torbert is ready to play the villain, he told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.
With Torbert on board, Michigan now has 20 commitments for 2027, the first full cycle for Kyle Whittingham’s staff. The class ranks No. 18 nationally on the Composite.
