Michigan forward Moussa Diabate has made a decision on the 2022 NBA Draft.

According to Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrate, Diabate has decided to enter his name into the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. That would allow the 6-foot-10 Wolverine to test the waters and still return to Ann Arbor for the 2022-23 season if it’s in his best interest.

The news of Diabate’s decision comes shortly after Hunter Dickinson decided to return to Michigan for the upcoming season. With one of the B1G’s top big men returning, Michigan will be a preseason favorite to win the B1G.

Diabate averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds for the Wolverines during the 2021-22 season. He also shot better than 54% from the floor and nearly posted 1 block per contest.

Though Michigan had an up-and-down campaign last season, the Wolverines were one of just two B1G teams to advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Purdue was the second.

Diabate will get the opportunity to receive an evaluation from NBA scouts. If he receives high marks, he can stick around and see where his stock is among teams in the league. If there’s room for improvement, Diabate will be able to come back to Michigan to improve his game.

Diabate scored a season-high 28 points in Michigan’s 84-79 victory over Iowa last season. He hauled a career-best 13 rebounds in a 75-65 loss to Minnesota. Diabate scored in double figures in 13 contests.
