Michigan took another step forward with plans to renovate Schembechler Hall for a football performance center.
On Thursday, the Board of Regents approved the schematic design for the new center, according to MGoBlue.com.
The new project calls for 240,000 square feet to be renovated and an additional 8,000 square feet to be constructed for athletic medicine, rehabilitation, wellness and nutrition for the football program. The project is estimated to cost around $14.8 million.
Back in February, Regents approved plans to renovate Oosterban Field House, which meant repurposing some of the space for the football program’s performance center. The two projects will create a unified performance center, according to the official athletics website.
Renovations to team meeting rooms, equipment rooms and administrative spaces are also apart of the plan.
