After five years in Ann Arbor, Jeremy Clark will be moving on towards a potential NFL career.
The Michigan cornerback told the Detroit Free-Press on Tuesday that the NCAA had denied his appeal for a sixth year of eligibility. He’ll leave the Wolverines after appearing in 36 games and making 15 starts.
Clark suffered a season-ending ACL injury in Michigan’s 49-10 win over Penn State in the team’s fourth game of the season. The senior was hoping to receive a medical-hardship waiver but it appears he didn’t make the following criteria:
the injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than three contests or dates of competition (whichever is applicable to that sport) or 30% (whichever number is greater) of the institution’s scheduled or completed contests.
In three seasons, Clark tallied 49 tackles, defended seven passes and grabbed three interceptions. His best season came in 2015, making 21 tackles and recording all three of his interceptions.
In four games last year, he had 10 stops and defended three passes.
Per the Detroit Free-Press, Clark has hired an agent.
