Michigan drops in College Football Playoff poll

Michigan’s worst hit of the season in a game was followed by its worst hit of the season in the polls.
Saturday’s loss to Ohio State dropped the Wolverines out of the College Football Playoff picture and all the way to No. 15 in the latest CFP poll. They were one of five B1G teams to earn spots in the top 25.
The Wolverines still had an outside shot at cracking the final-four field before Saturday. But to earn a spot in the B1G Championship, they needed to beat Ohio State and Penn State had to upset Michigan State. Neither of which happened, obviously.
Michigan does, however, have a chance to earn double-digit victories for the first time since Brady Hoke’s first year in Ann Arbor in 2011.
The Wolverines have been rumored to be a top choice for the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, where they would take on a top-five SEC team. A postseason win would also be the program’s first since that 2011 season that ended with a victory in the Sugar Bowl.
