Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown doesn’t like the criticism the Wolverines have received following their 1-2 start.

“I don’t think anybody likes criticism,” Brown told reporters on Tuesday. “I’ve stayed out of the social media circles during the season no matter what’s going on. I could care less for me.”

However, Brown is particularly annoyed at criticism directed toward head coach Jim Harbaugh and the players.

“We have an outstanding coach who does a tremendous job, and I just think he’s a perfect head coach, and I don’t like to see criticism of players. I just think that’s over the top when you’re talking about 18-to-22-year-old young men who are just trying to do the best they can for Michigan.”

The Wolverines are coming off upset losses to Michigan State and Indiana. Those defeats are even more surprising considering Michigan’s big win over Minnesota in Week 1.

With Harbaugh’s contract set to expire at the end of next season, tensions are even higher in Ann Arbor.

Michigan hasn’t been effective offensively or defensively in its last two games. Brown’s defense has given up at least 320 passing yards and forced zero interceptions in back-to-back games.

Brown, Harbaugh and the Wolverines will try to move back to .500 this week against Wisconsin.
