On Wednesday, Jan. 1, we will be able to see a classic SEC-Big Ten matchup featuring programs with plenty of tradition. Michigan takes on Alabama in what is technically an exhibition game in the Citrus Bowl, but it’s a postseason game nonetheless.
Again, it’s SEC vs. Big Ten. It’s different.

Ahead of the matchup, on Sunday, Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown and linebacker Khaleke Hudson were asked questions by the media. At one point, Brown has asked about where he would rank the overall talent that Alabama possesses at wide receiver. Is it the best he’s ever faced?
Not quite:
“Boy, I would have to say top three to five,” he said. “One year at Boston College we had Sammy Watkins and company when we faced Clemson. I would think this group might have some similar traits. But, bottom line is, when you have four of them, that makes it a significant challenge because you’ve gotta be strong at all your defensive back positions.
“Linebackers have to be in sync in the coverages we’ll utilize. This is probably the deepest group across the board, but, we’ve seen individual talent like these guys in the past.”
Alabama has four wide receivers who have combined for 206 catches, 3,431 yards and 35 touchdowns this season. It will be intriguing to see how Brown tries to help limit those extremely talented pass-catchers.
