Michigan DL Taylor Upshaw says defense must look in the mirror regarding poor tackling

Michigan was hoping to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season, but (formerly) winless Penn State had other ideas.
While the Wolverine offense once again struggled and was held to less than 300 yards of offense, it was the Don Brown defense that was shredded for over 400 yards by Penn State. The Nittany Lions did most of that work on the ground, rushing for 254 yards behind 134 yards from freshman Keyvone Lee.
After the game, Michigan defensive lineman Taylor Upshaw addressed the missed tackles and opportunities of the Wolverine defense. He admitted it is one of those scenarios that is unacceptable for a group of guys that has played a lot of football.
Sooner or later, Upshaw says the defense needs to look in the mirror at the tackling issues of the Wolverines:
UM DL Taylor Upshaw: – "We have to get better. There’s no excuse for missed tackles. We play football, we’ve been playing football. When that’s happening, you’ve got to look in the mirror and say, ‘Why are we missing tackles?’ That’s what I’ve got to say about that."

Upshaw has 13 tackles this season including a tackle for loss. Hopefully he can help turnaround a defense that is facing Maryland and Ohio State to wrap up the regular season before a Week 9 crossover opponent.
