Going into Week 1, questions still remained about who would be the permanent starting QB for Michigan.
After watching the Wolverines take on Colorado State, there was no question who should have the start, in fans’ minds at least.
JJ McCarthy might destroy the state of Hawaii next week. #GoBlue

Michigan has basically discovered that JJ McCarthy can do everything they thought Joe Milton would.

Scariest thing about JJ McCarthy is we’ve only really seen bits and pieces of him I can’t wait to see how good he really is😳

Once again, Cade McNamara wins a start in which he completed less than 10 passes. I NEVER want to see him on the field as Michigan’s starting QB EVER again! #GoBlue

I would personally like to say thank you to Cade McNamara. He beat osu and won the conference. I’m forever grateful for the part he played. Helluva season this year too. Threw a touchdown pass to go out. Thanks for playing. I will remember you.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh announced last week that returner Cade McNamara would start the season opener against Colorado State and that J.J. McCarthy would start in Week 2 against Hawaii. McNamara led Michigan to the Big Ten championship and the College Football Playoff in 2021, and would be given seniority.
But, the QB wasn’t able to repeat the same kind of success on Saturday, completing just half his passes in a little more than two quarters.
Enter J.J McCarthy, the sophomore and fan favorite. McCarthy entered the game in the third quarter and broke free for a 20-yard touchdown run shortly after. The QB helped the Wolverines open a huge 37-point lead and kept it throughout the remainder of the game.
McCarthy will start next week, and will he be the permanent starter for the Wolverines? According to fans, the decision has already been made.
