Michigan was able to make an early flip on Wednesday morning, as a three-star defensive end out of Germany gave his commitment to the Wolverines.

Julius Welschof, who was formerly committed to Georgia Tech, flipped to Michigan on the first day of the early signing period. He made the announcement in a video that he shared on Twitter.

Though Welschof is considered to be a three-star prospect by 247Sports’ composite rankings, many other recruiting outlets have tabbed him as a four-star talent.

Welschof comes from Germany and is ranked as the No. 26 defensive end in the 2018 class. He’s also listed as the top prospect out of Germany.

In addition to Michigan, Welschof held offers from five other B1G schools, including Penn State, Ohio State and Maryland.
