Ben VanSumeren has tested the waters of the fullback position at Michigan, and now he’ll be making a switch to the other side of the football.

According to VanSumeren’s Twitter account, he’ll be switching from fullback to linebacker for the upcoming football season. Because the program did not release an updated roster for the spring season, the move went unannounced.

VanSumeren was a three-star member of Michigan’s 2018 recruiting class and has played sparingly during his time in Ann Arbor. He’s played in nine games over the last two seasons and utilized a redshirt year during his freshman campaign in 2018.

Last fall, VanSumeren played in five games and took nine carries for 20 yards and a touchdown. He scored his first touchdown in UM’s season-opener against Middle Tennessee.
